Quality Academic Advising for Every Student

Welcome to Synapse Academics! Part of our mission is to provide quality academic advice for all students. While Universities often have career and major specific advisors available for every student, these services are often lacking in most High Schools. Most schools typically have one academic counselor to take care of a variety of students with significantly varying interests. It is therefore understandable that many students do not receive much career specific advice in high school. Additionally, academic counselors are often ill-equipped to help students make study plans for standardized tests because they have become far removed from taking the exams themselves.

At Synapse Academics, we aim to solve these issues and offer high quality advising to students. We partner with many consultants from different industries in order to be able to offer individualized advice to students. Additionally, we partner directly with schools to provide schools, parents, and students with regular updates regarding each student’s progress, as well as regular follow ups with students who need a little extra encouragement to reach their goals.

We also offer one-time workshops for schools and students.

Our Offerings

  • Each student is paired with a qualified academic advisor who has a bachelors degree or higher. Each student meets with their advisor once per semester to work on an academic plan to fit their goals post graduation.

    In addition to regular consulting sessions, students have the opportunity to meet with an industry specific consultant.

  • Students have the opportunity to meet with industry specific consultants. For example, a 12th grader who is interested in the pre-medical path can meet with a medical student who can explain the pros and cons as well as build a preliminary action path with the student.

    Likewise, a student interested in computer science can talk about what the field looks like with a recent computer science graduate who can provide expertise on taking the right college classes and how to secure internships.

  • In addition to providing advice, consultants follow up with students regularly to ensure that they are meeting their goals and to offer additional assistance if needed. This is perfect for students who need a little extra accountability or someone they can talk to.

  • Standardized testing is a core part of academics in the modern world, and test scores can open or close doors to universities and scholarship opportunities. That’s why we are proud to connect students with consultants who recently took the same test, scored in the top percentile, and have demonstrated an ability to help students.

  • We offer workshops to provide quality advice to a large group of students. We currently offer workshops in the following subjects:

    • Road to Medical School

    • Computer Science

    • Standardized Testing

    • Scholarships

    • Study Strategies

    • Transition to University

    • And more!

An Example Package

Here is an example of what a package would look like. Exact packages are designed for each school and each grade level, as applicable. In this example, each student would receive the following, per semester:

  • Standard 45 minute academic advising session per semester.

  • 30 minute session with a career specific consultant.

  • 30 minute session with a standardized test consultant to develop a study plan based on a students goals.

  • Regular email follow ups to check on progress.

  • A personalized 6 month action plan.

  • A personalized career roadmap, if applicable.
